The Sri Lankan government has made a cabinet decision to waive visa fees for nationals of six countries, including Japan (Japan, China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, and Malaysia), for a limited period from November 28 to March 31, 2024. Please note that although visa fees will be free, you will still need to apply for a visa using Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before traveling to Sri Lanka. To use the fee exemption system, you must arrive in Sri Lanka by March 31, 2024.The visa validity period for the fee exemption system is 30 days, and re-entry (double entry) is possible within 30 days of your first arrival in Sri Lanka. The Japanese government has relaxed border control measures and announced that Sri Lanka has been removed from the list of designated countries.
As of April 29, Sri Lanka has also become a non-designated country, and those who have received three doses of the vaccine are no longer required to wait at home (no quarantine).

●The PCR negative certificate in English required for entry into Sri Lanka has been abolished under the following conditions!

The Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka has decided to abolish the requirement for PCR or antigen testing before travel for travelers from overseas who have been vaccinated from Tuesday, March 1st.

Those who
have received two doses of the vaccine and more than two weeks have passed since vaccination
Bring a vaccination certificate in English

* Those under 18 years of age have received one dose of the vaccine within two weeks before the date of travel

The following people will still be required to submit a negative certificate in English for a PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure. Those who
have been infected with COVID-19 more than six months before entering Sri Lanka and have only received one dose of the vaccine, and those
who have not been vaccinated

●Please note that the following pre-entry procedures are still in place.

Take out COVID-19 insurance (USD12)
Apply for and get approved for ETA (online visa)
Submit a health observation form online on the day of your outbound flight.

*At the airport, 24-hour monitoring is conducted with temperature screening, etc., and all entrants to Sri Lanka are required to submit a health declaration form upon entry, including their health status, travel history, and their destination and contact information in Sri Lanka.
*If any problems are found with the temperature check or health declaration, entry may be denied or a two-week quarantine may be required at a designated facility
. *Travelers are requested to monitor their own health condition after entering the country and to immediately see a doctor if they have any symptoms.
