I think you originally arranged for an English driver, but you arranged for a driver who could speak Japanese, and since the terrorist attack had occurred, I was able to have a very safe and fulfilling trip. I am very grateful to our driver, Udaya, for accommodating our busy schedule (we got up at 5am every morning to go to the diving shop, were picked up and dropped off at the hotel and diving shop for a lunch break, and then went back to the diving shop in the afternoon).

I was worried about the local situation right after the terrorist attack, but I saw that anti-terrorism measures were being taken at the airport and at various road checkpoints, and it seemed like there were no safety issues. However, I was a little scared that I was the only guest staying at the hotel in Nilaveli, where there had been a series of cancellations, so I was really reassured that our driver, Udaya, was there.

I was worried until the very last minute about canceling this trip, but I’m really glad that I didn’t! ! Normally, Trincomalee has a lot of divers and there are apparently a lot of boats in the sea, but there were almost no tourists, so it felt like a remote area and I had the sea all to myself,
